These Referral Program Terms supplement and form part of the Terms of Service. By sharing your referral link or earning a credit, you agree to them. We may change or end the program as described below.
How it works
Every paying company in LineLedger has a unique referral link. When you share it and a new company signs up through it, subscribes, and stays a paying customer through a short holding period, you earn one free month.
The steps:
- Sign-up. A new company creates its account through your referral link and starts its free trial.
- First payment. The referred company’s first subscription payment clears. The referral enters a holding period.
- Holding period. We wait 30 days after that first payment before issuing your credit. This window lets us account for any refund or payment dispute.
- Credit. Once the holding period completes, we apply your free-month credit and let you know.
The credit
- The credit is worth one month of the standard per-company subscription — CAD or USD $25, in your company’s home currency.
- It is applied as an account credit (a Stripe customer-balance credit) to your next invoice. It is not a cash payment and has no cash value — it cannot be withdrawn, transferred, or redeemed for money.
- Credits apply to future invoices only and do not reduce amounts already paid.
Multiple referrals
There is no cap stated here on how many companies you can refer — each qualifying referral earns its own one-month credit, applied to your upcoming invoices. We may apply reasonable limits to prevent abuse (see below).
When a referral does not qualify
A referral will not earn a credit if:
- The referred company never subscribes or never makes a first payment, or
- The referred company’s first payment is refunded or disputed (the referral is then disqualified), or
- The sign-up does not genuinely originate from your referral link.
Fair use
The program is for genuine referrals of new, independent customers. You may not:
- Refer yourself, or create or control companies in order to claim credits for your own accounts;
- Use fake, duplicate, or fraudulent sign-ups; or
- Misrepresent LineLedger or spam people to obtain referrals.
We may withhold, reverse, or cancel credits, and suspend participation, where we reasonably believe the program is being abused or these terms are not being followed.
Changes to the program
We may change the credit amount, the holding period, eligibility, or any other aspect of the program, or end the program entirely, at any time, with notice where reasonable. Credits already earned at the time of a change will be honored. Non-profit organizations that use LineLedger free of charge do not have a subscription to credit, and so do not earn referral credits while on the free plan.
